There should be a national debate on education to restrengthen the educational system in Ghana – Professor E. B. Amponsah.


The rector of Valley View University Techiman campus Professor E. B. Amponsah has raised his concern on the educational system in Ghana. 

Speaking he emphasized that the educational system in Ghana is weak and needs to be attended to in order to restructure it for the best. He said comparing the current system if education in Ghana from basic to even the university level everything is theoretical not as in some years back when one who completes middle School could even do some small practicals. 

He said this at the first section of the 27th Congregation Graduation Ceremony of the school for the December 2021 graduates at the schools auditorium at the Techiman campus which due to the Covid–19 Pandemic is been divided into various sections with a theme; Confronting a global Pandemic: a call to Excellence, Integrity and Service.

 Honoring the occasion was the special guest of honor Nana Asare Baffour II ( Bamirihene, Tuntuhene of Techiman Traditional Area ). 

   In his submission he congratulated the graduates for being able to endeavor to come out successful and pleaded with them to go out and be hard workers and also portray what they learnt in school to the world at large .

Speaking further he said government cannot absorb all of them but it should not be a case for them be unemployed but he advised they venture into entrepreneurship for it would help them secure jobs for themselves and the country at large.

  The acting Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Agyekum Boateng also encouraged the graduates to go out and not rely on government only but look for other ways they can get themselves jobs. He advised they should be of good behavior in anywhere they find themselves.

     Speaking to the overall best graduating student across all campuses nation wide, Mr. Paul Akurugu, he showed his appreciation and happiness for emerging the best but advised his colleagues to go out and make a change where ever they find themselves and keep to the motto of the school which is Excellence, Integrity and Service.
